I’m disheartened that Amendment One passed in North Carolina last night. Amendment One made domestic partnerships unrecognized in the state. I feel that a terrible mistake has been made.

More fighting has to be done to ensure equal rights for all North Carolinians. I still love North Carolina and I have faith that one day marriage will be legal for all people regardless of gender and/or sexuality.

Below is a video from SONG- Southerners On New Ground. Their message of “building a political home across race, class, culture, gender & sexuality” in the South really resonates with me. Today I’m reminding myself that “the TRUE victory is in our renewed commitment to each other and solidarity with all families.”
